CPH is simple in design. White table clothes, dark wood beams, open layout and servers in black v-neck tees and black slacks. We do tend to dine like early birds and came at 6pm which seems to be before the regular crowd. The restaurant was about half full but there was not an available seat at the bar...drinks must be good.
When I come to places like this I tend to like when servers "sell" me on what I should have for dinner. Sam did just that. Not in a "salesman" type of way. In the way that I believe that he knows the menu and asked enough about what we liked to offer suggestions. I was being indecisive about cocktails and he said "may I surprise you!?!?" UH YEAH! I love surprises! He brought back a martini glass with delicious and refreshing absinth, aloe, slightly sweet and other stuff. Great surprise!
The Original Salad. Amazing! Alone, the ingredients sound a little ridiculous but together, it is amazing! I would go back just for that salad.
Based on Sam's recommendations we went with the Pan Seared Scallops and the Fair Trade Short Ribs. I live for this kind of stuff! Coffee rub with a cherry bbq sauce on top of parsnip puree??? So good. Different flavors all coming together to make a delicious meal. My husband said that the scallops were the best he has ever had. I kinda wished he had lied to me since I can't eat shellfish but I'm happy and surprised he said something like that. He doesn't tend to rave about food that often.
The suggested dessert was the Peanut Butter Strata Bar. We went rouge and had the Pig in the Orchard. Apple and bacon bread pudding with blueberry sauce and ice cream. The bacon was not over powering but gave the dessert a smokey flavor. It was interesting but it made me think about that Peanut Butter Strata Bar....
The service here was spectacular! You will be a very lucky patron if you sit in Sam's section. In fact, you should ask for his section. He knows everything about the menu, about the area, and about all things interesting!
