Find another place where you are still in "Classic Vegas," and have that ABSOLUTE direct access to every other awesome spot on the strip...
Centered at the heart of the strip, on the corner of Flamingo Rd. and Las Vegas Blvd. sits Bally's which has remained classic for the last 20+ years... sure it's older, but it's still fun, clean, historic and most of all a classy place... and again -- centered in the middle of all the action on the foremost corner on the strip, right across from Caesar's (my favorite place to play!).
If you're going to Vegas with a few friends or for a day or two, sure blow your wad and pile into a nice room at the Wynn, The Cosmopolitan, Bellagio, etc... but if you're the type that likes to lay back and really do Vegas for a few days or a week... and the type that likes to be able to relax when it's time to turn in at the end of an 18hr day that included some severe table games, smoking premium cigars at Casa Fuente, chatting it up with tourists, hitting the sports book, dancing, eating at buffets, shopping, drinking drinking drinking, and walking up and down the strip and playing at EVERY CASINO... then opt for Ballys.
Hey, it's quaint, and there's not a lot of frills or gorgeous giant golden chandeliers with rubies and emeralds hanging from it, or even those nifty water spouts that shoot water into holes carved out into the wall across the room, but again, IT'S CLASSIC VEGAS and priced amazingly for the amount of accessibility, the cleanliness, and awesome location on the strip. And did I mention, the employees and front desk has always been helpful and sweet to me?
I usually enjoy saving that extra three to eight hundred bucks (depending on length of stay) over the other high-end spots on the strip (which are sometimes placed in less-desirable locations IMHO), and then using that cash as much-needed spending money for: big tips, fun table games, classy drinks, random shopping (have to shop in Vegas!), and of course the delicious eats + cab fare...
Most of the folks kicking 1-3 stars to Ballys should stick to The Cosmo and the Wynn, where they can go to The Marquee and hit up XS, respectively... or maybe pile into a suite at the Hard Rock where they can blow their allowance at some densely packed and over-tanned pool party... but for true old school cats like myself who fancy a nice sitting at the Galleria Bar @ Caesar's and hitting up some Chinese dinner on the waterfront @ The Bellagio... along with some great seats to an awesome show, well, I'm beyond-fine with laying my head here at Ballys at the end of the night (morning)... especially at the rates for Total Rewards members.
*I should note, I don't play a lot at Ballys, and I've only stayed in the rooms in the newer North Tower, haven't seen the older ones, so definitely opt for an upgrade if you can. I also consider myself lucky, because I've never received anything but great service from the front desk and have often been upgraded to rooms facing the strip, right over all the neon walkways with watershow views... for the same rate. In this town, a little respect goes a long ways :)
Thanks Ballys
