| - I am sooo confused. A few days ago I can home from work and about 10 minutes after closing the garage door I heard a loud bang. Thought the neighbor was having a problem so I went to open the garage door and it would not open. Just opened a little and then closed. I finally realized something is really wrong. Knowing I had to go to work in the morning I called A1 for a emergency service call. Tech (Anthony) was really nice but he just kept telling me I need to fix this, that, etc...He replaced the springs (which he said was the problem). Then pointed out the rollers? etc...needed to be replaced. In the end it cost me $1195.00. Fast forward a few days to yesterday, and guess what, same problem with opening the door. Well tech came out (same guy) and basically said that I have to replace the actual unit. That is what the problem is. Ok I get it, ours was old, etc...but now it is a additional $525.00. Anyway, after he left my neighbor was having her door serviced (how ironic). Different company (with great Yelp reviews I might add). So I walked over and starting talking with my neighbor and telling my garage door story. The service tech overhead and said there is no way my repairs cost that much. So after he finished my neighbors door he and his partner came over and looked at my door and the repairs. He honestly looked at me and said "I am so sorry miss but you were definitely overcharged. There is no way all the repairs from both days come to almost $1700.00". He looked at everything and said with the new opener included it should have been almost half that price, maybe a little more. Emergencies happen, I appreciate the repair done by A1 but it is very sad that I more than likely was overcharged. But unfortunately in emergencies we sometimes do not think clearly. Tech was great, I cant fault that but the price I paid is highly suspicious. All in all I am just happy it is taken care of. The price,,not so happy about.
