I live and die by caramel flavored coffee drinks. This place completely nails the caramel macchiato. I'm not too adventurous with my coffee, but I'd feel totally comfortable trying something new from Fair Trade.
The environment is calm but busy in the way of the staff constantly cleaning and conjuring, and the customers absorbed in work or a good book. In other words, it's quiet enough to get things done but busy enough to provide entertainment for your daydreaming.
Their pastries are also delightful. I split a pumpkin chocolate chip muffin with a friend, and I wished I hadn't. I wanted it all for myself. It was the perfect balance of moist and dense that you want in a baked good. Two thumbs way the hell up for that muffin.
One last charming detail I noticed in the cafe was the artwork. Large, intriguing paintings usually hang on the wall. I regret not investigating further but my best guess says that they are made by local artists, maybe even students, and available for purchase. You might just have to stop in and find out for yourself.
