| - Been here twice now. The first time was Flamenco night in June, which was tons of fun The second was last night. Every bite of food and every sip of alcohol I have had in this place is impressive. Last night was the special, Acapulco Crudo, guacamole with raw tuna and tiny slices of hot red pepper, and the Elote Callejero. Both were perfect and delicious. But my god, for $5, the Elote is the treat of the decade. A bargain, not too fattening, and absolutely mouth wateringly delicious. The last bite is as arrestingly pleasing as the first. Could not shut up about the Elote.
Tacos here are also delicious, and the white sangria has made a sangria lover of me, which I never thought would happen. (They put a little peach schnapps in it, which must be what subliminally hooked me. What a trashy ingredient, and what a brilliant, delicious application of it.) I use my toothpick to spear every last piece of fruit in that delicious sangria glass.
Also had a mojito, which was perhaps a touch too sweet, but still an excellent mojito.
Service last night (we arrived just before closing time on a Monday) was very friendly and efficient, nobody rushing us out the door, which would have been understandable. Recently moved from the NYC area and I feel confident saying that if Gallo Blanco were in NYC, there would be lines around the block day and night. Love that we could just park 50 feet from the door last night, waltz in and pick any table. Lucky Phoenix.
I'm going to a wedding in October and GB will be catering it. I cannot effing wait.
