| - We wanted to have a delicious Vegas buffet and narrowed it down to Wicked Spoon and Bacchanal (Bellagio's was also a top contender). We opted for Wicked Spoon based on the small plate options and some guy we met in the hotel who said it was the best. It was roughly $94 for 2 people after tax. Not too bad.
We were warned you had to get there early to avoid a line, but we showed up at 7:30pm on a Saturday night and got right in with no wait. Buffet tip: make one pass around every station and plan your attack wisely so you can get the most food possible. Our plan was one plate each per separated station and we would share. So if one item looked good, we'd get one and each try it so as to maximize our sampling.
The service was bad. With the above plan of attack, we got around 5 plates each. Every time we would return with a new plate, the old plates would not be removed. We had to start loading them up on adjacent tables to make room. Also, they didn't come by for drinks or plate clearage until after our second plate of food was completed, roughly 30-45 minutes in and I had to ask them for drinks. I feel bad because our waitress showed up after about an hour and apologized because she had an emergency and said she had to leave and come back but once she returned, she still didn't provide good service.
Now to the best part: the food. I loved the smaller serving sizes. We were able to try everything we wanted with our plan (but just barely as we got sickly full by the end). We had an uneven food experience as we used it as an opportunity to try some of the more unusual options we would not have otherwise tried like the bone marrow, frog legs, crawfish, etc. Some we liked, some we didn't but it was worth it try everything. My only complaint was the temperature of the food. Some of the items came out cold as they were sitting for too long.
Enough of the complaints. Time for the highlights. The cauliflower gratin was amazing. The sushi (I forget the type) was also very good and flavorful. The Asian section in general was very good. The crab legs - we always seemed to be able to fit more in, despite how full we were, and they were fantastic. The dessert was also top notch and full of choices. Really good gelato, Oreo rice crispy, and other colorful and tasty treats.
Overall very good and I would recommend it. It was our only Vegas buffet so far but we we get to more, I will update the review as a comparison.
