| - Brought my parents here to celebrate both of their 80th birthdays this year. Made reservations online indicating our celebration and when we arrived reception greeted my folks with a cheery "happy birthday!"
We ordered a bottle of Cabernet and a bottle of pelligrino to go along with our warm bread basket. Started with shared Caesar salad and ocean club salad which the kitchen split for us, that's always a nice gesture when a restaurant does this. I enjoyed the ocean club salad, fresh, with shrimp, chopped tomato, egg, and bacon. Salads were dressed just right. We ordered steaks all around except for my mom who ordered the Chilean sea bass along with fresh asparagus, sautéed mushrooms and scalloped potatoes. Entrees were cooked perfectly and delicious, I had a piece of mom's sea bass and it was to die for! Sides were good with the exception of the scalloped potatoes which were way too salty (maybe I shouldn't have said yes to add Gruyere cheese). The finale was Mastro's warm butter cake with vanilla ice cream with piping around the plate "happy 80th birthday" and coffees. Wow, cake was sumptuous and so very good!
Really a wonderful, leisurely evening bonding and reminiscing. Glad we chose Mastro's to celebrate a special event! A special thanks to our server, Tim who was so friendly and patient with us. He even walked with dad to show him where the men's room was. He's the best!
