I don't think this place is as bad as people say. I mean it's not a five-star hotel, it's intended purpose is to stay longer than a few days.
Sure the clientele can be iffy, but I did not experience any issue during my stay. If anything, they were friendly. I had little interaction with staff - mainly just check in and check it out.
It's not the newest building, but it's fine for what it is. The room itself is fine, I noticed there was some sort of odor in the room, but after a minute I didn't notice it anymore - it could be the carpet or something like that. There is a kitchenette with a fridge microwave stove sink breakfast bar. The bathroom is on the newly remodeled side. The bed is decently comfortable but the pillows are mixed.
The curtains block out light pretty well, and the AC works great.
The location is close to the convention center, but will still be a little walk to there or to the strip. There's gas and a few fast food restaurants around and the mall is just down the street.
