  • 4.5 stars rounded up to 5 Just had a very nice experience here. One of my best friends lives out of town and we were able to book facials for the same time slot. We didn't get to be side by side in the same room, but it was relaxing and it was nice to do "together" anyway. We both got the basic facial, in which Skinceuticals products were used. I really like that line - it felt really luxurious. You can also ask for Dermalogica or Phytomer, but I was going to request Skinceuticals anyway, if given the choice. The environment was also very nice, even though it was a small space, and the staff was great. We both agreed that our skin felt plumper, smoother, and more hydrated afterwards, which was very nice! They recommended products without being aggressive, and provided guidance on how to get started with Skinceuticals, which is something I'd been meaning to look into. 1.5 stars off because my esthetician tried to extract a couple things on my face that I didn't want her to touch, but I probably could have communicated that more clearly at the beginning. No harm done though, because she wasn't too forceful and stopped when I asked. I think her technique was good. Generally, when I compare this to my other spa experiences in Toronto, I prefer Serenity over Elmwood because I prefer the product lines at Serenity, I think the esthetician's technique was a little bit better, Serenity has nicer treatment rooms (Elmwood rooms look very clinical, like doctor's offices), less people milling about (because it's a smaller facility), and I don't use the hot tubs/hair salon anyway. I feel like you can get a better facial at a more competitive price here, the massages offered are less gimmicky, and I'm very interested in the hydrafacial, which is not offered there. Also, the pedicure basins at Serenity are not the jacuzzi/massage tubs (which is what Elmwood has), which is way more sanitary because it's nearly impossible to completely disinfect jacuzzi jets. Miraj Caudalie spa I absolutely adore and is the gold standard in terms of providing a luxurious environment, but the prices means it's definitely more of a special occasion spa, whereas I'd be happy to visit Serenity multiple times throughout the year. I'd be happy to return for a full day of treatments next time, especially for the hydrafacial!
