  • When I booked this hotel, I was really surprised to see that it only had 3 stars. It seemed like as good of a deal as you could get when factoring in price, location, and purported amenities. The lobby is pretty nice and the free wifi worked well, but parking was expensive and in the creepiest underground parking garage I've ever seen (and I've been in my fair share of downtown Chicago garages.) The room was...fine? There was nothing bad about it per se, and it was clean, but when I pay over a certain amount for a hotel I guess I expect certain amenities. The room was pretty outdated and still had a relatively small CRT TV, when most nicer hotels would have upgraded. Not a big deal, but noteworthy. The bathroom had ridiculously poor lighting, a perpetually stopped-up sink, and was just kind of dingy. I guess I didn't even realize what my expectations for a hotel have become. If it was $60 a night, all of these things would have been fine. For well over $100 (plus parking and those blasted Canadian taxes) I expect a little more. I will add that our room looked NOTHING like those pictured on their website and that it was a wheelchair accessible room (don't you love when places bump Expedia users to the less desirable rooms?) I do have to wonder that maybe our room was not updated because it's an accessible room? If that's the case, then that opens up a whole new set of problems...let's give them the benefit of the doubt and hope that's not the case. That being said, the location was good (very close to the subway, restaurants, etc.) I guess the lesson here is that Toronto is a very expensive city and you're simply not going to get a lot for your money! Adjust expectations accordingly, and this hotel is an okay place to stay.
