| - My better half and I started going to this Flo's on the recommendation of our Realtor, who told us about the ridiculously cheap $5.00 Saturday lunch special. Our first visit was good. However, subsequent visits chipped away the other three stars. Service was always adequate, but never good. In fairness, that could be just because we always went during the inevitable madhouse that comes with offering a $5.00 lunch special.
I first had the Mongolian Beef, which was excellent. However, every time I strayed from it, I was disappointed. The rice is never good. It's always dry, broken grained, and utterly tasteless. I'm no fan of soggy vegetables, but Flo's swings the pendulum too far in the other direction. Eating a dish with huge chucks of nearly raw green pepper that merely kissed the wok/saucepan is not enjoyable. Tender-crisp would be appreciated. The Shu Mai are the best I've had, but twice I had to send them back because they were trying to pawn off old, dried out, lukewarm ones that should have been tossed, and that's just insulting.
It's been quite a while since we've been to Flo's, and we likely won't return. I wanted to share with you why.
