Visited Scottsdale area for a long weekend with a desire to do some mountain running. Views from this peak and the journey up are 5 star. You gain 1000+ft of elevation in just over 1 mile which leads to many many places to stop along the way for excellent views. The ease of getting to the mountain and amenities close by (Starbucks less than a mile away!) is nice; however, the flip side is the crowd.. on a Sunday morning the trail was like the morning commute to Boston on I-93.. totally packed. This made it less of an experience as the sheer number of people was overwhelming. Note: this is a very steep hike.. more like doing steps for about a 40 minute journey to the top (if you are in decent shape!).
