  • Starfire golf course in North Scottsdale is the former Scottsdale Country Club. Located about 20 minutes north of Phoenix Sky Harbor airport, this course was designed by Arnold Palmer and has 3 great 9 hole courses; the King, the Squire and the Hawk. The club house is fully staffed and equipped and has GREAT sales and wonderful specials. One of the best is the One Dollar per Hole special on Wednesdays. Basically, $18 for 18 holes. On an uncrowded day, 18 holes can easily be played in 3 hours. I was able to grab an online deal for a Friday morning and literally had the course to ourselves. The fairways were in very good shape and the greens were good but a touch slow. I did manage to find lots of water, as usual, and my playing partner commented that the course seems short but unless you hit every fairway, you're not going to make par. Please go check out Starfire and play this great course. It's a great bargain during the summer.
