I've spent thousands at their old location. Got a huge stockpile of German WW2 aircraft models to build one day with my kids or when I retire. All the newest releases from Revel and foriegn brands like Hasegawa and Dragon are always in stock or ordered. The thing I used to like about Hobbytown is that they carry the resin scale upgrade kits for most of these military models too. These can be tiny thin metal realistic cockpits, airerons or tank cannon barrels to make your kit look even more like the actual vehicle.
Selection is a bit more exapnsive in some departments, such as model vehicles and R/C planes/cars. My brother likes Anime so he gets all kinds of Japanese Gundam models here. They have the bases and the Japanese Gundam markers. He says their prices are cheaper than Amazon. The paint selection can be hit or miss in the acrylics but they will most likely have any color you need in the spray can section. There are train sets and tracks & mini scale buildings to make train dioramas.
If you need something they'll have it most likely. It's good for the advanced hobbyists as much as the beginner too. The other hobby stores in town are ridiculously over priced in comparison without as many bells & whistles as Hobbytown. They might not have everything, but at least they have a bit more than the usual store. The staff is nice and the store is basically set up well enough so that you wouldn't have trouble finding anything. I give them an A!
