  • I live downtown and work for a locally owned restaurant as well. I spend a lot of time at the restaurants around the downtown and uptown area, mostly because service is a lot more friendly and personal. However my last experience here was a very disappointing one. I had called ahead and asked about a reservation for my anniversary which was responded to that they didn't take any reservations for parties smaller than 8. It was a bit disappointing seeing how I wanted to make this night a bit special for the 2 of us, but obviously this company is a little more interested in making their dollar than our experience. I, however didn't make a fuss even after the hostess told me that the wait, if there was one, wouldn't be longer than 15 minutes (how reassuring). Upon arrival (30 minutes earlier than I had wanted to set the reservation for) we spotted 2 open seats at the bar (the same 2 seats as our first date at that location exactly 2 years ago). Excited by the small coincidence we sat ourselves at the now full bar. It is only a 15 seat bar, a bit small but not too big for one bartender to handle. We sat in between a pair of ladies sipping on martinis and a couple. We sat for a few minutes and watched the bartender walk by, again and again. Finally he stopped sort of in front of us and asked the ladies next to us if they wanted another round ( at this time we still had not been greeted by anyone and had no menus in front of us). After the ladies next to us responded yes, he walked by us AGAIN and continued to make the martinis for them. Well at that point, the exciting coincidence of sitting in the same seats as our first date 2 years ago was ruined, so we decided to move to a table and hope for a server that wanted our money. The experience at the table was rushed and lacked any sort of personality. After only a few bites of our appetizer our entrĂ©es came out. All in all I probably won't be returning. There are too many great restaurants in the area with better staff who seem to enjoy their job more.
