Yes, Lazy Jane's will redefine the word "scone" for you. Scones aren't supposed to be the dry leaden vaguely sweet hockey pucks most coffee shops and restaurants serve. Nope- they are supposed to be light and flaky and buttery and flavor/fruit-filled. In other words, just as they are at Lazy Jane's. I am a breakfast/brunch regular here because it's just so darn reliable. Sure, I could make myself a salami/provolone/mushroom scrambler with a side of turkey sausage at home... but for 8 bucks, why not cuddle up in a cozy corner at Lazy Jane's with some of their delicious coffee and- bonus- a scone too! The prices are beyond reasonable here and the only thing that's not absolutely delicious are their breakfast potatoes (just plain cubed potatoes- you could do worse). As someone who doesn't typically eat potatoes or toast anyway I really appreciate that at LJ's you can ask for no potatoes/no toast and not only do they smile and say "Okay sure!" they reduce the price as well. Yup, it's just counter service but it is GREAT SERVICE HERE.
I swear by their weekend specials and pretty much always order off that specials menu on the chalkboard- unique scramblers, omelets, French toast etc- but if they've run out for the day, I have the standby Chorizo Scrambler from their regular menu (secret: their fresh house made salsa served with that scrambler is totally on point!) Don't be scared off by the line. It's an efficient ordering system and it's all part of the charm.
