| - I really loved my first Cowfish experience. I happened to be in the area, craving a veggie burger--little did I know what a big deal this place is! It was about 5:15PM on a Saturday night; we waited an hour for a table. They have a texting system with a grace period of 10 minutes so they often encourage people to wander around the mall while waiting. We did just that.
This place is loud, so be prepared. They fit a lot of people into a not-so-big space. It's not overcrowded, but it's not exactly roomy.
Our waitress was lovely and guided us through the menu. There are SO many options, which they understand, so they give you a lot of time to peruse. I started with the house side salad, which was a pretty good size. The ginger dressing was exactly what I was hoping it would be! Delicious and refreshing.
I had the Heavenly Veggie burger, which was quite good. I'm not sure if I'll call it the best in CLT (still have many veggie burgers to try before claiming that) but it was great. Their chipotle mayo or whatever it was was delicious. And the sweet potato fries were great. I also tried their regular fries, which were delectable as well.
I couldn't resist trying a milkshake and got the smores. MAN OH MAN was this a great decision. There was marshmallow throughout the shake (fluff??? who knows) and it was just so freaking good. My only problem was I truly felt like I was going to explode from fullness at the end.
Having had a glass of wine, side salad, burger, and shake, my individual total was around $30. It's not cheap, but I will happily pay that for this burger and shake experience. Plus, it's a fun atmosphere. I look forward to returning soon!
