  • It is OK. I am comparing Mabel's to growing up on Georgia and Carolina style BBQ and having had tons of Texas and St. Louis BBQ. Road side pits and smokehouses that have been going over night to create master pieces. BBQ is not a set a timer and it is done thing. It has to be watched and measured. It is cooking alchemy. It is a tradition of using cheaper cuts of meat that are cooked till they are tender and juicy. It is an art form. Also, I just do not like the sauces that were available when I went. Hopefully they have improved. Pros: It can hit the spot when you have a craving and you are downtown. Cons: Feels more like a drinking spot than a BBQ joint. Over priced. portions are crappy. There are better places for BBQ in Cleveland. Do not let this place set your standard.
