I have been to 10 Costcos in Ontario and Quebec and the experiences have always been present. However this one is not.
I only buy stuff that is small and unique in Costco as I am single and don't want to buy in large bulks. This past weekend when I was checking out 3 items and just after I take my credit card out of my wallet, the cashier ripped my credit card off my hand, compare my name with the membership card and to my surprise, tap it, before I had a chance to see the amount. He did not speak a single word to me during the whole process and handed me my credit card back without looking at me.
He acted as if I stole the membership card and do not know how to tap a credit card properly.
I understand when Costco check the name on credit card, but to tap it without my consent, is not acceptable. Also Costco tend to check my credit card when I am buying 1-3 items.
In other words, if you are not buying a whole cart, you could be treated without respect because they suspect you are not a member as everyone else is buying a lot.
