  • In July I called these folks to retain their services for a traffic ticket I had received. The woman I spoke with over the phone gave me the option of coming into the office or paying over the phone. I elected to pay over the phone and spent around 10 minutes giving her the ticket information, my address, e-mail, phone, and my credit card information. I was quoted a price of $100 for their services and told they would appear in court for me by the date and my ticket would likely be reduced to a parking ticket. She said they would handle it from there on out and would later send me an update after they appeared for me indicating how much they had gotten my fine reduced, and I didn't need to worry about it until then. Oh how I wish I had written down her name... I never received any e-mail or postal mail from the law office, I thought they were perhaps backed up with work and couldn't get around to my case til closer to my court date, so I just waited. A few days after my hearing, still not having heard from them, I checked the court's website. My case was in warrant status for failure to appear. I called the court to double check and sure enough no one had appeared for me. So I called the Coburn offices again to check what had happened, the receptionist I spoke with said I was not even a client in their system. The woman I had spoken with in July and given all my information to had never even entered me into their database. And since I had failed to write down her name at the time I had no proof I had ever contracted their services. Since I had no proof there was no way for them to make it right, and she quoted me a new price of $200 to have the ticket taken care of. After this debacle I decided to just go to the Ticket Busters office instead, paid the same price, and they went to court for me within a week. The court, however, still ended up charging me an extra $200 fee for failing to appear, along with the fee for the ticket itself. This was the first ticket I had gotten for a moving violation in almost a decade, and I was no longer familiar with the process. I probably should have taken the initiative to double-check why they hadn't charged me right away as soon as I'd contracted their services, but... Frankly, who spends around 10 minutes taking someone's personal and credit card information then NOT even enter them into their company's system and deprive their business a new client willing to pay for services? If anyone here decides to still use Coburn despite my story, I highly recommend going into the office in person and paying there and getting a physical receipt rather than relying on paying over the phone. That mistake cost me an extra $300.
