| - Buyer Beware! The Groupon initially advertised at 62$, which includes an exam and either $50 off contact lenses, or $150 off glasses, is not what it appears. AVI expects you to pay at least an extra 150-400 dollars, depending on which deal you are wanting to purchase.
The front office staff were very nice. But when I was called in by the woman who asked all the questions (such as why was I there and "here, hold the paddle and tell me what you see"), all of that changed. This assistant looks very much like Snookie, but with glasses. Snookie did let me know early on that there would be a $70 extra charge if I wanted to get the contact lens exam. This irritated me immensely, and Snookie let me know very directly, "You need to read the fine print." Okay fair enough. My bad.
Five stars for Dr. C!!! She was thorough, personable and kind.
So here's the deal: Although you can get $150 off of glass frames, Snookie very happily let me know that the cheapest ones cost $135, and that doesn't include the lenses. So you need to expect to pay an additional $150-$300 dollars to get glasses. That plus the 62$, and its going to cost you around $225-$400. And that, my friends, is NOT in the fine print.
So you want contact lenses? Although I was initially working with the very nice man with the goatee whose job it is to sell the contacts and glasses, Snookie butted in and told me that the cost of the contacts that I was to get would cost me an additional $80 for a 6 month supply. I told her that not only did I not want the more expensive kind, but that I did not want a 6 month supply. She said that that was my only choice. I told her that that was NOT in the fine print, and she let me know that still, that was their policy. I told her again that that was NOT in the fine print, and she turned to the goatee man and said, "Basically, she wants free contacts."
Very rude. Nope, I just wanted to have the deal that I paid for. When I told her that I wanted the cheaper contacts, she let me know that "I was being VERY UNPROFESSIONAL." Really? I am the customer. I drove 45 minutes to come to this place of business with the idea that I was going to get the deal that I paid for. Of course I assumed that I would be paying extra, but not $150 plus tax, extra. Silly me? No. Silly you, Snookie. You were the one who was being unprofessional. I am the customer. I expect a certain service when I pay for it. It's really quite simple. I'm sure that you would expect the same.
So apparently the owner wasn't there. But if he is a smart business man, he would give the people what they want: as many or as little boxes of contacts as they need - not force the customer to buy more than the customer wants. The owner could ship out contact lenses to his customers. ( They ended up doing it for me, and with very swift service!) 1-800 CONTACTS is a multimillion dollar company and they do it all the time. The owner could do it too, but offer incentives such as a buy-5-boxes, get-one-free deal for customer loyalty. I would sign up, for sure. But luring customers in with a cheap deal and then charging the heck out of them at closing time is no way to do business.
As for Snookie, you need some customer service training, pronto. After that, AVI is good to go.
