  • The best place I have found to get my dogs done. I own 2 standard poodles and while I don't do the typical poodle cut, I do like to get them in a natural puppy cut look. I also have an now 13 year old Chihuahua. Here is what I love about this place and why I have been a regular client for the last 7-8 years. First off Helene the owner is really nice and knows how to handle dogs For example my Chihuahua was no longer welcomed anywhere (including my vets), not because he bit anyone (he is a lover not a fighter), but because he would squeal soooooooooo loudly, sounding more like a huge parrot than a 7 pound dog, that he would freak out the techs when they tried to cut his nails. He is not in pain in anyway, he is just a drama queen who honed this talent early on. Helene was the only one quick enough, and sure handed enough to get the job done. Even he was surprised and would usually not even let out a tiny squeal. Because Helene gets so busy you sometimes have to wait 3 weeks out to get in for full grooming, she will usually cut nails in minutes if you walk in. So I have had to try other places (at least half a dozen) in cases where the need for a trim was crucial, like in spring if there too long and it tracks in mucho dirt (you know what spring in Montreal streets is like), or if I was had to show them (my mom is a breeder and they are often shown in breeder shows). She always made them look amazing and would take the time to be sure she did not have to hack them down to nothing, simply because it is easier. That is usually what happens, the ones I tried and gave up on would either just send back a skanky looking dog with uneven coat and claim they were too tangled, often with clipper scrapes and nicks (which happens when your not careful to de-tangle then throw a clipper in). She does take along time to do this, so I have come to expect that I drop them off at 9 and get them back at 4, but I do know she is not working on them all the time and will just let them roam around her (daycare area), the dogs are always in a good mood when I pick them up and I have caught them playing with other dogs, like it was day camp. Much better than being cramped in a cage. You can tell the animals like her and she respect them, and you. She works with all kinds of dogs of all ages, as well as cats, she has a very loyal following and has even begun a School training program, if you love your pet and want the peace of mind that comes from leaving it in good care, then Helene and Spa VIP is you best option.
