  • As an avid baker and consumer of cupcakes - I recommend Frangipane. I often find store bought cupcakes to be sickeningly sweet with a disproportionate amount of icing to cake. I bought 6 cupcakes to bring to a friend's place - chocolate w/ chocolate icing, vanilla with vanilla icing and lemon poppyseed with cream cheese frosting and lemon curd. WOW. This would be a 5-star bakery if it weren't for the prices. I paid about $24 for 6 cupcakes (shhh, don't tell DH). At that price, I can bake several dozen cupcakes at home.
