  • We purchased two "Classic Ruben" sandwiches on the 16th of November 2015 for take-out. Sorry I do not have photos, but my wife gave the second sandwich to the American Airlines stewardess as trash before I could get photos. What to notice first - despite having many small sealed bags of "chips," Matt's tossed a handful of loose chips in with the sandwich. An hour into our flight, they were all soggy, having lost all crispness. Matt's saved a few cents by dumping in their bulk chips. Shame! Matt's sandwich was premium-priced at about $11. An excellent Reuben outside the Sky Harbor is in the $6-10 range. A $11 Ruben should be amazing. I doubt anyone at this Matt's has ever seen or had a Classic Ruben. Matt's used bread that was sliced into extra thick 1" thick slabs. If it was "rye," the grain was a minority contributor. The sandwich was cut into two rectangles, like a grade school peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Classic Rubens are cut on a diagonal! The corned-beef was tough and the quantity very small. You could hardly taste any sauerkraut or Russian dressing. Sky Harbor diners from the "coasts" should stay away from this atrocity to avoid disappointment. However, we give credit to the "grill-man" for getting nice "grill-marks" on the bread!
