| - This review is a difficult one to write. My massage therapist, Dariusz, clearly knows his trade - rating 4. Overall experience on how my appt was handled - rating 0-1. Thus, overall rating of 2.
This review is meant to be helpful and inform future customers and is not meant to be overly critical to this business as I feel like maybe if I didn't have a Groupon maybe my experience would have been different.
I made a appointment at Organelle 12 days in advance, to use my Groupon for a Mani and Pedi and Hot Stone massage (purchased for $89). I left a voicemail, mentioning my Groupon, description of Groupon (just in cases they had more than one active deal) and my preferred date and time. I received a call back/voicemail, the next day, confirming my appt. date and time that I requested. I was also told on the VM back that I would receive a "confirmation call" the day before the appt. I did not receive this call but no big deal, I had it on my calendar.
I arrived at Organelle 10 mins. before my scheduled appt. No one was at the receptionist desk, but after a few minutes was greeted by a woman who seemed to be the owner (I deduced later, her name was Anita). I told her I had a 1 pm appt. and she gave me some paperwork to fill out for my massage. Upon completion, I placed the paperwork at desk. A few minutes later, the woman sat down and I gave her my Groupon. She then tells me they do not have a technician to do my mani/pedi. I was not happy. I asked why didn't anyone call me? I could have rescheduled my appt. She said the technician gave no notice and she wanted to work with me to try to "replace" with a similarly valued service, e.g., a shampoo and cut or changing the massage to a 80 minute, which she stated the value of a 80 min. Hot Stone was $199 and to check their website. They do not have a price list on site, only on web, so I could not easily validate. It was now 1 pm, I agreed, kinda reluctantly, to the 80 minute massage. She said the therapist would be here in a few minutes and showed me to the treatment room, which is right off of the main door. She told me where to place my things and how to use the towels to cover myself and the therapist would me in shortly. It was 1:08 right before therapist walked in room. He did not tell me his name just started providing instruction on how he wanted me positioned differently. Once done, asked if I was comfortable and started to get to work. I asked his name, he said Derek. We spoke about my physical ailments and he seemed knowledgeable and integrated his specialty of "medical massage" with my hot stone massage. He also provided advice/tips on health, diet, and additional service packages they offered that could help me. Usually this annoys me, I'm an experienced spa/massage goer and am not use to a lot of chit chat when I'm trying to relax. But, I found the conversation interesting. When the massage ended, I looked at clock (same clock that said it about 1:08 when we started) and it was 2:20. Yup, my pet peeve, not the full 80 minutes, my service/treatment was shorted by 10+ mins.
The treatment room was small, included a sauna, which made the room incredibly warm. I could hear conversations outside in salon, but not that big of a deal to me but, maybe not your cup of tea.
I tipped Derek (Dariusz is real name) $30 as I figured that there was no way a 80 minute hot stone at a indie spa was $199, figured Anita exaggerated, and it was closer to $145/$150. So, even though I got shorted on massage time I was still tipping 20%. I did this because Dariusz clearly knows his trade and on a technical basis, did a great job for the around 70 mins. he worked on me. I looked on their website when I got home. 80 minute hot stone was "on special" for $99 (regular value $199 - FYI a 80 minute deep tissue at Green Valley Ranch is ~$185 (hotel prices, but at least tons of amenities) - so how can they be regularly charging $199?). Yeah, I got taken-buyer beware.
