| - Seriously, very, VERY impressed by everything this place had to offer. I originally thought going in, that it would be very small portions, limited menu, and really expensive. However, this place impressed me astronomically. The appetizer we got (the warm goat cheese spread with corn chips) and the bread basket with all baked assortments was a pleasant surprise. We ordered the lamb chops and the veal, amazing. The sauce and aioli just make everything on all of Bobby Flays' dishes, and you can tell when you're eating, that he put a lot of his effort into what's on your plate in front of you. The veal was a 16oz veal, which we didn't even know you could get that big..and once again, amazing.
I believe each plate comes with a special tamale as the side dish, each one is different though. Although I'm not a big tamale fan, my boyfriend chowed his right down (so it must have been that good).
Overall, I was definitely impressed by the portions, much bigger than expected (we were most definitely full leaving dinner). Not as expensive as I would have guessed either, good surprise. Also, I believe the menu does change from time-to-time (as all big name chef restaurants do often) but not too often that you'd be upset that you couldn't get what you got last year. I was very satisfied with every aspect of the restaurant and our waiter was also very helpful, he explained all of our questions we had on the menu.
We will definitely be putting Mesa Grill on our "must go" list every time we come back into the city.
