  • Eleventy bajillion stars, but Yelp only allows me to give a mere 5. To put this review in perspective, I was at Nobu (the flagship) last week. I spent an obscene amount of money there and had a fabulous meal. Soho is better - period. First - you will be welcomed genuinely. I sat at the sushi bar and the sushi chef chatted me up through the meal, as did the peeps next to me. This is a locals place in the best way. Second - value. From 5-7 M-F they have a great happy hour. Beer, sake, apps, some Sashimi plates are just $5. The regular prices are a BARGAIN people - I live in MKE and let me tell you, it's not a high roller sushi town (big surprise right?) but I would expect to pay at least 50% more. On the Strip? For this quality, you should pay triple! The sushi chef said they get people bitching about their prices and I have to be honest - what????? This is some top quality shit (aka Nobu) and amazing preparations. Third - sashimi. Yes, please - all day. The chef specializes in it, and the cold sashimi dishes are where it's at. Started with Cajun albacore ($5 HH) which was wonderfully peppery, then salmon wasabi ($11) - a ton of lovely fish. After that - yellowtail (comp'd) - fucking amazing, then ocean cod w/pop rocks ($12) - must have, so creative! Finally - escolar carpaccio ($5 hh), and raw fish Italian style followed by one bite tuna tartare with gold leaf. Does that sound like a lot of raw fish? Too bad!! Don't judge me - I've been dreaming about a return to Soho for 2 years. Let me have my moment. My bill? For all this perfect fish + 2 sakes???? $46 - what?????????? I can't even - that is crazy. How this place doesn't have a line out the door and around the block, I don't know. I do know that many of the local chefs from the Strip get their sushi on here and you should too!
