Outstanding anniversary dinner!
I had not been to the Le Mont since I was a small child and figured I was long over due for a return visit. I easily made reservations thanks to the Open Table app.
The whole restaurant just screams old money. My wife and I were easily the youngest diners there by at least 20 to 30 years. LOL! The space was impeccably clean, but could definitely use a remodel to make it more modern and current.
Unbeknownst to me our wedding anniversary was during Restaurant week and at the time the Le Mont was running a $30.16 special for three courses. You had a choice of a soup, salad, various entrees and a dessert. We each chose the broccoli cheddar soup and a house salad. For our entrees my wife chose the blackened shrimp fettuccine and I chose the surf and turf. It featured a center cut 6 oz. petite filet with three Grand Marnier glazed shrimp. For dessert we both chose the pecan ball.
The broccoli cheddar soup had perfectly cooked broccoli and a load of cheesy goodness. It was very good as was the house salad. My surf and turf was outstanding as my steak was perfectly cooked, extremely juicy and tender. My shrimp with that Grand Marnier glaze were superb! My wife really enjoyed her blackened shrimp fettuccine as well. The pecan ball was simply amazing and was the perfect ending to a wonderful meal.
The wait staff was impeccable and made sure we were very well taken care of for the entire duration of our meal. Just when we thought our date night could not get any better the manager sent over a slice of their incredible chocolate cake as a anniversary surprise which we took home as we were completely stuffed.
The Le Mont is a Pittsburgh institution and offers one of the best views of downtown Pittsburgh. I highly recommend it for a romantic date night or special occasion.
