| - Some of the food here was really excellent -- the flank steak and chocolate cigar dessert were stand-outs, and with all South American choices it's an interesting wine list -- but we only give it two stars because of service, ambiance and price.
If we hadn't had a Groupon, which gave us half-price on a 3-course fixed price meal, we'd have really felt ripped off. The ambiance is your basic standard hotel dining room, and extremely loud -- definitely not a spot for an intimate dinner, though I thought perhaps the patio might be better...until we saw all of the children running wild around outside!
Service was really lacking. Initially, we were seated at the bar fronting the open kitchen and when we told the hostess we didn't want to sit there after all (really, there's nothing special about watching a sous chef prep chicken), she was quite put-out and proceeded to seat us at a teeny, tiny table -- so cramped, in fact, that we had them take the candle away so we'd have space for our plates, glasses and bottle of wine. Our waiter was as unimpressive as the hostess -- when he was there, he was pushy and rushed, but mostly he ignored us.
It's a thumbs-down.
