| - I have finally been able to get the front and rear bumpers for my car repainted correctly. The biggest thank you for accomplishing and completing this goes to Xavier at Primero Auto Body Corporation. Primero is who originally painted the bumpers for the CPO car. Apparently, there was a batch of bad paint that caused the paint problems I experienced.
These reviews opened the lines of communication, and allowed Xavier to work with Audi Chandler to get the front and rear bumpers re-painted. Audi Chandler was also helpful in providing me a loaner care while my bumpers were being repainted. Thank you very much to both Xavier and Audi Chandler.
I still did not here directly from anyone at Audi Beverly Hills.
I also do not understand how car dealerships can sell Certified Pre-Owned Cars, with bumper to bumper warranties and still make the claims that cosmetic items such as paint not sticking on the car is not covered by the warranty?
I am skeptical about the Audi CPO program because of incidents such as paint peeling from the car. If an Audi dealer is allowed to repaint items such as bumpers and hoods to cosmetically enhance the appearance and value of the car to charge an CPO price for the car, then it is the responsibility of every Audi dealership to honor these cosmetic changes. This was an Audi CPO car, not a Beverly Hills Audi or Audi of Chandler CPO car!
Lessons I have learned are to make sure you as a consumer protect yourself. One item I will do in the future is on all car sales you, as a consumer, are asked to sign a form when you meet with the finance department that states there are no guarantees, verbal or otherwise that are not listed on the final paperwork. If you perceive such items as cosmetic paint defect, fading, or peeling as a manufacturer issue that should be covered by a "bumper to bumper" warranty then protect yourself and put it in writing! I fully understand how and why a dealer cannot cover items such as rocks or road hazards, but paint peeling off the car like a bad sunburn is not a consumer issue and the car dealerships need to be held accountable.
Additional update, afternoon of 1/4/2018 - I have spoken to a representative from Beverly Hill Audi and had an opportunity to have a face to face with the General Manager and Service Manager of Chandler Audi. Audi of Beverly Hills was communicating with Xavier of Primero about making the paint and repairs correctly.
I have explained to both dealerships that a big contributing factor in the frustration with this incident was communication from both dealerships. I did attempt many times to contact people and was not returned calls. Both dealerships have acknowledged this.
I feel this paint issue is now resolved, though I hope in the future Audi of America takes a different approach to their execution on a common sales positioning of a "bumper to bumper" warranty, particularly in a CPO situation. The reason why a dealership would re-paint items such as a bumper or other parts of a car is to optimize the value and price they can charge for that car. If something is done in this manner, it should be disclosed to the consumer, and in particular with trying to promote the value of a CPO experience with a car such as Audi, there should be no debate, questions or challenges for a customer to receive unquestioned and timely service from every Audi dealer.
