On a whim and a good rate I decided what the hell I need a break from reality and booked a night staycation here. I knew people that used Palms Place for business travel all the time so I figured it must be pretty nice.
First impression was that this was one fine room! I was one pleased peach! Nice decor...bed was uber soft...ohhhhh that's a cool view :-D and the tub!! a bubble bath was a must!! Then the lipstick started to come off the pig. Anyone remember the song from Black Sheep, Strobelite Honey?? Loved that song back in the day and for those that don't know it, educate yourself and viveo it. At first the room was a beauty and then the lights came on and Van Damn it was UGLY!
Let's me start with the over all security of the place. There is none, so just go right ahead and see the lack of upkeep for yourself. I'm not sure who to blame since it's a Condo/hotel. Either way stuff needs to start getting fixed. The sofa is starting to get frayed. I had this light fixture flicking and that drove me nuts! The switch on the power wire was taped with electrical tape. I knew maintenance wouldn't be up in a timely manor so I just fixed the damn thing myself. If that didn't work I would have just unplugged it. The bath was nice but the shower wasn't working properly and I was too impatient so I just took another bath :-/ that comfy bed I was thinking I loved before was actually too soft with zero support. Then I started to think if nothing else was maintained when was this mattress replaced?? Eeeck!! Why do I do this to myself?!? I almost forgot about the extra guests in my room :-/ I killed off about 3 silverfish bugs. At least they weren't roaches...I won't lie I flip out when I see a roach :-/ I would have thrown up the middle finger and said NOPE I'm outta here if it was a roach :-/
There is some good to this stay...it's not like I was staying at Circus Circus. I enjoyed being able to just walk over to the Palms via the sky tube. I was going to watch a movie at Brendon theater but I actually did something I can rarely do, read! The room was quiet and the view of the strip at night was stunning. I wished I brought Moonrise Kingdom to watch or Pride and Prejudice but now I think about it I don't remember seeing a DVD player :-/ no matter the night was still relaxing even with the minor flaws.
Overall the question is would I do another impromptu staycation here?? Nope, I like my mattresses with less mileage on them :-/ I'm more a Palazzo type of gal but it was still fun :-) oh yea, and if Palms Place does it's duty and reads my review please fix the stuff in room 8320
