| - Typically I come in here, get what I need and get out. It's a Dollar Tree!
Today, my experience was slightly different. I wouldn't even typically care to "check-in" to a dollar tree or leave a review but this feedback...so necessary.
I'm in line behind another young woman. The cashier, Angela, is ringing up the lady's items very efficiently. So much so, she accidentally reaches for my things to ring up as welll. The woman very politely informs Angela that those weren't her things, and she proceeds to void the few items. However, she also decided to tell us how WE should've been paying attention enough to tell her. She then picks up one of the dividers and says 'this should've been used.' Then she just continues on and on about the mistake. At this point, I had had enough. Seriously, Angela?!?! You weren't yelled at or scolded, and it wasn't that egregious of a mistake that you needed to carry on the way you did. I would normally ignore such rambling but she refused to hold herself accountable for what happened, which now, was a big deal. So I tell her that it's not that serious and she needs to work on her customer service.
Well, I guess she became so upset that she didn't even wish me a nice day when my transaction was complete. My main goal with this particular feedback is to hope someone speaks to Angela about her behavior. We all make mistakes. Don't be so hard on yourself but also take responsibility for your mistakes no matter how big, or in this case, small. This was a teachable moment for her and maybe she'll grow from it.
Relax.
