| - Society Café offers delicious food at reasonable prices- reasonable, as in, reasonable prices for Encore. Maybe that's why this place is brimming with customers. My boyfriend and I went here for a late dinner, and it was still pretty busy. After being seated, the waiter brought out complimentary pretzel bread with whole grain mustard butter. The bread, still warm and soft, was delicious with the mustard butter, and a unique alternative to the standard bread choices offered at other places. After looking over the menu, my boyfriend ordered Filet Sliders and a Potato and Bacon Cake from the Sides, and I ordered Rock Shrimp and Crisped Calamari and A Tasting of Salads. Here's a breakdown of the food:
Filet Sliders (Caramelized Onions, Horseradish Cream, and side of French Fries): The sliders were delicious; I especially enjoyed the horseradish cream, which gave the sliders a nice kick. The French fries were thin and crispy- just the way I like fries to be.
Potato and Bacon Cake (Mashed potatoes mixed with sour cream, bacon, and green onions formed into a large cake and pan-fried): I tried a little bit of this, and although it was tasty, I didn't think it was anything special and I probably would not order this again.
Rock Shrimp and Crisped Calamari (Lightly battered calamari, rock shrimp, and thin slices of bell pepper served with caper aioli and zucchini chips): Very good appetizer to share.
A Tasting of Salads (Caesar, Fruits & Nuts, and Iceberg Wedge): All the salads were delicious and fresh. I enjoyed all the different ingredients used in each salad, and each salad had its own unique taste from the sweet Fruit & Nuts salad to the savory Iceberg Wedge to the classic Caesar. My favorite salad was the Fruits & Nuts salad (Field greens, figs, pears, dried cherries and cranberries, and cashews tossed in a sweet pomegranate vinaigrette) followed by the Iceberg Wedge (Crisp bacon, Tear Drop tomatoes, blue cheese chunks, and red onion drizzled with a blue cheese dressing). The Caesar salad was tasty; my favorite part about the salad was the pretzel bread croutons, which I thought was a great idea.
Overall, food and service were good. I will definitely go back to Society Café to try some of their other menu items in the future.
