  • Are you still looking for a gym that feels like they mean business? This place is definitely it. Before I joined, I was constantly told that the membership rates were too high. Finally, I went in and actually got a price quote myself. Considering that I came from a crossfit box paying $120+ a month in membership, I expected a rate fairly similar. Let's dispel that myth right now...for an individual membership -- you pay LESS than $45 a month and you have access to all locations, all classes, anytime! Walking in, you'll notice the facility has a very clean and modern appeal. The locker rooms are always very well kept, and you're not tortured with the musty locker room smells some gyms tend to have. If you have children -- you'll definitely want to take advantage of their very interactive kids care area. It's meant to keep kids of all age comfortable, safe, and engaged. My son absolutely LOVES going to Mountainside Fitness. He enjoys the kids amenities and activities and loves the staff. But their best kept secret is their personal training..yeah, I know -- most people immediately shut down at this point. The common excuses -- 1) don't need one - I know what I'm doing, 2) I can't afford one, or 3) I don't have time. Well, here's the thing -- I'm an elite athlete and as much as I am into fitness and have a fairly good understanding of what to do in a gym, I've taken advantage of training with personal trainers at this gym and have continued to improve my game and my standings in competitions. There's never a point where you know it all, and having professionals that understand your goals and know how to help makes the fitness goals more realistic and attainable. As much as I love training for my sport, I don't always want to show up and do work -- so having my trainers there to hold me accountable and encourage me helps more than you can imagine. I work with Brian primarily, but also train with Jordan and Ali. But regardless who my trainer is, whenever I'm in the gym, they are all excited to help -- for them, it's not about the money, it's about seeing growth and progress in their members. If you're looking for an MMA gym? Why go anywhere else, Ali is an MMA certified trainer, so aside from his normal functional training, you can learn MMA without paying the high fees. Want a crossfit workout -- check in with Richard -- he's also crossfit certified and a kick ass power lifter. If you're looking for out of the box -- kick your ass training -- why not ask for Jordan or Brian. And then there's also some other awesome trainers that are sure to fit your style and needs. You simply gotta get your consult and get paired up. Okay -- I know that doesn't address the second point of not affording a trainer. Believe it or not, their rates are extremely low -- and if you're not comfortable with committing to buying X amount of sessions, heck, they have a pay as you go option too. And what about those that don't have time? Let's be real -- many of us can use that excuse as well. I have a very active 6 year old who is involved in quite a bit of things. Aside from his activities and school obligations, I work full time, I am an Athletic Coordinator for a non profit, I am pursuing my masters, and I STILL make time to train for my competitions in both obstacle courses and ultra distance races. Come Fall 2017, and you'll see me training for physique competitions with the same trainer that helps me remain competitive in my sport. If you want it -- you'll make time. I know this review was extremely verbose...but I just can't say enough about how much being a member here has transformed me. I hope you'll give it a chance and take the challenge for yourself. I feel like being a part of this gym, and being surrounded by the trainers that are here has truly pushed all my limits and helped me knock down mental barriers I would otherwise have not overcome. And unlike training at crossfit boxes (not to say they are bad), I've been able to train injury free because they are very careful about proper technique, form, and post work out maintenance.
