  • I was very afraid I would not like Industry Public House. I'm on board with the craft beers for sure. But "artisanal cuisine"? "Industrial cocktails"? Ugh, this sounds pretty hipster. Being located in Lawrenceville did not help the sale. But they have an amazing craft beer, whiskey and cocktail selection. So I had to give it a try. I've been here on a few occasions and I seem to time it just right. I've been there when it's pretty empty or scored a table shortly before the place fills up. It's a beautiful huge space. But it's also popular. If you don't want a long wait, timing is definitely key. If you're just there for a couple cocktails and not worried about crowds or waits, then it doesn't really matter. Just know that service at the bar is usually pretty slow when it's busy. My first time here, I met a friend for dinner around 6pm on a Saturday. We were immediately seated at a table by the bar. The menu isn't pages long, but it's exciting enough that it we weren't sure what to go with. So we ordered a bunch of appetizers thinking we'd order food later. I was eyeing up that Farmed Out Burgher as my main course. My friend went with the popped corn and candied bacon, I went with the pot roast fries. The serving of fries, as an appetizer, was way more than I expected. And that gravy, oh that gravy....so delicious. And it's not that I didn't want that Burgher, I just couldn't eat another bite after finishing those fries. And one of the fried chicken livers my friend ordered that I just had to try. We had a few cocktails, my favorite being the Rhuby Rhuby Rhuby. I noticed over the summer that they have updated their menu because another one of my favorites, the Flux Capacitor, is no longer available. The Smokestack, their signature cocktail, is made to your liking with your choice of bourbon and wood chip. I haven't been back for food, but I have returned for cocktails. Every time I've been able to score a seat at the bar. It can get loud with the music and TVs. But I just had another cocktail and ignored it. Random side note: Industry Public House may have my favorite bathroom in the city. Despite my reservations, Industry Public House exceeded my expectations. It might seem a little pricey, but I think it was worth it, especially for the food and creative cocktails. I won't hesitate to stop in again for a cocktail and finally get one of those burgers.
