| - 5 STARS life-changing experience.
I never really understood the allure of going to the spa, until I went here! This is not your neighborhood nail salon with a massage chair. It is absolutely one of the most memorable experiences I have ever had.
My boyfriend bought my sister and I gift certificates (ESSPIRIT package) for Christmas for this spa in Aspinwall on a stellar recommendation from one his coworkers. I have to admit I kept putting it off because I had never had a massage or a facial before and I was a bit nervous!
As soon as we arrived, the front desk women were very excited to see us. They gave us forms to fill out to get a better idea of why we were there and then led us to the back where there is a beautiful locker room and changing area. What else can I say besides it is just beautiful. There's pretty lockers with keys on bangle bracelets that you can wear while you're there so you don't lose it.
Once we changed into our plush robes and sandals (all provided), we went into another waiting area with flavored water and hot tea to sip as we were waiting for our masseuses. It is dimly lit with candles and soft lightbulbs, very comfortable seating, and there's murals on the walls of what I imagined to be a town square in Paris or Milan.
My masseuse Rita put me at ease and was very gentle and reassuring throughout the 30 min massage. I also loved how warm the bed was, but not to the point where I was sweating. It was awesome.
She explained to me that I was booked with Eva, the owner, for my facial. She let me know that I was quite lucky to get to experience Eva's expertise and that made me very excited. The facial with Eva was legendary and she is absolutely amazing at what she does. She also took the time to do some micro-extractions for me, a very nice touch. The bed was very comfortable and the serene music mixed with essential oil burners made me feel like royalty. It was truly a first class experience. Eva took the time to thank me for visiting her spa, which was much appreciated.
We changed back into our clothes for the mani/pedis. It was less 'zen' than the rest of the experience, of course they need brighter lighting to see what they're doing, and the room was a bit small, but the leather chairs were very comfortable and my technician was very nice. They have a nice selection of high quality polishes to choose from, and homemade scrubs in all different scents to moisturize your feet. My feet were silky soft when I left!
I don't know about the previous reviews, as I wasn't there, but I cannot see anyone having less than an incredible experience here. The staff is so charming and rooms are simply beautiful; you feel like you're halfway across the world in Paris for your mani/pedi or Tibet for your massage.
I would highly recommend treating yourself or a loved one at this spa. You will not be disappointed. Especially the gift packages; I recommend the ESSPIRIT package for a little bit of everything. You will be hooked!
