  • I am an avid food network watcher and website reader. I was reading a post from the food network kitchens about the best food in America out of what seemed an endless amount of restaurants only one was from Ohio, Jeni's. My family and I were on the road to Nashville and since I live in Cleveland we were going to be driving right past Columbus. I begged to go to Jeni's, but my parents who are pretty good actors told me that we were in to much of a rush to stop. I am gullible so I believed them. I was devastated but persistent and continued begging to the continual no of my parents. Somehow I didn't notice we had gotten off the highway until we pulled up across from Jeni's. Oh my goodness, we were there. I freaked out and sprinted out of the car, while yelling out joyful thank yous to my parents. I dashed inside the restaurant, and hurried to the counter. I was overwhelmed but I didn't let that stop me, I tried basically every ice cream they had, (and not one employee acted annoyed or told me to stop.) I eventually settled on the Wildberry Lavender, which was a taste sensation that excited every part of my palate. On our way out we stopped to talk to the cashier, she asked us where we were from, and we said Cleveland. Almost immediately she asked us if we knew that they were opening one in Chagrin Falls. I flipped, that was only a fifteen minute drive from my house. Jeni's has turned me into a devoted fan. I was there when it opened, and I go there at least every month to sample all the new flavors. I have a few that are extra-delicious, the Bangkok peanut, which starts as a sweet nutty ice cream, then has a taste of coconut, all to be finished with a spice that wasn't expected. Another truly wonderful flavor is the Lime Cardamom Rhubarb Yogurt, it has a fresh limey taste with hints of smokey deep cardamom, and sweet pieces of rhubarb. My other favorite is the Goat Cheese and Red Cherries, it is rich and creamy and the sweetness and tartness of the berries are perfect. Jeni's is one of my favorite places that I have ever been to, one stop there are you will be a fan, guaranteed.
