  • Hansen's is a solid, very old-school bakery in East York. We stopped in on the weekend for assorted danishes, almond squares, and Portuguese custard tarts. The danishes were better than, but very much in the style of, grocery store danishes. I did enjoy the lemon and cherry cheese but there could be more crispness and concentration of flavour. The custard tarts were surprisingly good, better than a few I've had from Portuguese bakeries in Toronto. It's not too expensive; the larger items are around $2. I would come again, but I wouldn't go out of my way.
