  • I love a good cocktail, and the cocktails I've had at VTR are the best I've ever had. I'm no cocktail neophyte. I'm known for making solid classic cocktails myself, I visit friends and help them drink through the Savoy Guide and I've done my share of ordering up Manhattans, Old-Fashions, Aviations and other classics if there's a chance the bartender knows what he's doing.. I've tasted wonderful cocktails at bars and homes across the country, but VTR is the King. The house made sodas, bitters and fortified wines make such a difference to these cocktails that it's hard to explain in words.. Pair that with the care and skill that goes into the making of each cocktail and you end up with a drink that demands savouring. Compare the results of this approach to the cocktails served at your average bar and you'll see the difference. Is the VTR spendy? Yes, but if you love good cocktails, well made, then grab a seat at the bar, have a drink, and chat with the bartender a while. I think you'll find that it's money well spent. I should point out that the happy hour is a good deal with discounts on most if not all cocktails, and I loved the Wednesday "Recession special" - A milk punch, a cookie and a pat on the back for $5..
