  • I had lunch at the Brew Garden this week with my boyfriend, and I think it may be the most expensive meal I've ever had. Mind, you expensive does not equal good. Also, if you were just looking at the receipt it was priced fairly average, however, I'm adding in medications plus my emergency room visit (due to food poisoning) - so, pretty pricey little lunch out. Food poisoning aside, I wouldn't find the meal all that great. We happened upon the place when our first choice happened to be closed, but we figured no big deal. It was a sunny afternoon, they had a big patio and hey, it was called the "Brew Garden" so I figured there'd be plenty of tasty beverages. I should have run FAR FAR away. The beer menu would be a good selection for Applebee's or a non-beer named joint, and I probably wouldn't complain about the size if half of the selections I wanted were in stock (and I only saw ONE beer I'd never had). The bartender while very nice and pretty had limited bar knowledge, but okay, fine again - see that it was a sunny day, figured how wrong could I go? VERY WRONG. We split the pretzel bread appetizer and while tasty was nothing unique - and had nothing else gone wrong, the bread alone may have made me consider two stars or even stop figuring out how to give zero stars. It comes with beer cheese sauce and some sort of butter with cinnamon (I think?). My partner had a salad that appeared tasty and maybe it was - I'm still a little scared of food (still on clear liquids, thanks, Brew Garden!). I had the lobster mac and cheese at the bartender's suggestion. While it was decent enough the first time.... I'm afraid of cheese right now and cheese is one of my favorite foods. Also, the area near the bathrooms smells heavily of salsa. Not really a complaint just... weird, I guess. Anyway, I spent most of the night sick and then got to visit the ER (thumbs up to the staff - genuinely. They were awesome and after a few bags of fluid and anti nausea pills I am feeling worlds better). So, the food wasn't unique or all that interesting, beer selection leaves much to be desired (and the bartender will have to run inside to get any decent beers - half of your beers will be served in plastic, half in glass with no real rhyme or reason for which is in plastic. Good beer is good beer, so I don't really care what my Founder's is served out of, but if you want to really rate your beer you need a clear container to see through). I probably wouldn't have gone back (or been in a hurry to go back) minus the food poisoning, but now? I think I'm afraid. Plus, for as much as was spent on the meal I would expect someone to come clean my house.
