| - So...I went to the Kingston Rd/St. Clair location of Canadian tire AFTER Christmas to purchase a new Christmas tree since ours had seen better days and was ready for the trash.
I spoke with a staff member to ask if I could return this tree after taking it home and setting it up to see if I liked it, since stuff never looks like the picture on the box...I was told no. No returns on seasonal items. I asked to speak with the manager. Finally located the individual I was told was the manager, and he said the same...no...no return on seasonal items. I said I could understand if it was before Christmas, but it is AFTER Christmas, and I just want to see if I actually like the tree once set up. He said no, I would have to speak with the store manager...I said, I was told you are the manager...he said he is the manager of sports and seasonal items...I said...this IS a seasonal item!!! And...can I then speak to the manager...was told the manager wasn't there and I could go to the larger store at Warden and Eglinton to see if the tree is on display there to see if I liked it.
So...I go to the store at Warden and Eglinton, and sadly they were out of stock of the tree I hoped to purchase at the Kingston and St. Clair location, but I did see another that I liked. I asked a staff member in the seasonal department if I purchased this tree, set it up and it didn't fit in my living room...could I return it? (The tree was 1.5 feet bigger than I had expected to buy), and she said yes. I said, are you sure? She looked for the seasonal manager to confirm, and again...yes...so I get to the cash register and ask again...again, yes...I could return because it's after Christmas.
Kudos to the Warden and Eglinton location manager for ensuring their staff actually know store policies. Shame on the Kingston and St. Clair manager for not doing the same!!
