| - Perhaps a tad odd to review a funeral home but like anything else, it provides a product/service to paying customers and they're fair game for review.
It's never an easy experience to be at a place like this, it's never just to look around, or price check. You're here because you're making arrangements for a loved one, paying your respects to a friend or loved one who has passed or visiting with their family. No matter what, it's not a happy time.
So why 4 stars. Given recent circumstances in my personal life, this was my second time being here for a visitation/memorial and I must say the venue is lovely. The staff, easily the most empathetic people around (I mean empathy is their job) but really they go the extra mile to keep a grieving family on track and comfortable - anyone who has had the experience of losing a loved one that things can go off the rails pretty easily when emotions are involved.
Even when it came to organizing the day of funeral procession, burial, etc they were wonderful and I know my family appreciated their help through it all.
I can't speak to their pricing as I wasn't the one paying for their services but as a family member I can speak to their level of service and professionalism. I only withhold a single star for two reasons, not being aware of their pricing (which could be higher or lower than normal) and second the location is a bit awkward to get to given that it's on a one-way side street in Pickering Village.
I hope I won't be back anytime soon (no one does), but if you're in the area and in need of assistance with final arrangements for your loved one, look no further these folks are wonderful to deal with and they will make the process of saying goodbye as seamless as possible.
Thanks again McEachnie team
