I look forward to coming to the AZ State Fair every year. I just can't get enough of the crowded midways, the livestock and exhibit halls, and all the deep fried whatever they can think of. Sure it's the same old same old every year, but it's like going to the family reunion it is only once a year. I was surprised to see, or should I say, not see any fried bugs this year. The deep fried bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers are my favorite. The roasted sweet corn is always something I look forward to. The biggest regret was not trying the deep fried pecan pie. Maybe next year.
I'm sure all the rides are fun, but I get motion sick, so I didn't go on any. When you drop a bundle on fair food you kind of like to keep it for a while and not share it with bystanders. I didn't stay for the evening entertainment. They have some pretty good shows. I got there early in the day so I could take advantage of the $2.00 admission before 2pm.
Getting there is easy. I ride the light rail to the McDowell and Central stop. It's only a short walk or a couple stops away if you transfer to the city bus.
