We hired Cameo to relocate our pool equipment to another location in our backyard. After a few consultations with their sales guy Michael we decided to go with them for the work.
We were originally told the work would start early to late the following week, and (without any communication from them telling us it was delayed) the work finally started about a week and a half after we'd originally been told it would. When the crew came over to start digging the trenches they seemed unsure of exactly where things were going and what they should be doing. I'm not sure if any of the 3 guys were fluent in english and nobody approached me and said hey I'm the guy in charge here talk to me if you have any problems etc.
As part of the work being done, the sales guy told me that I should hire my own electrician and just have him run the pipe for the electrical wires in the same trench as the pool pipes. When the crew arrived I asked them what time would be good to have the electrician come. Since the guy I was talking to didn't seem to speak english very well this conversation wasn't the easiest. Finally we agreed on 3pm. My electrician came on time and started working. I then see the crew from Cameo packing up to leave and notice they haven't hooked up the backwash line to the pool pump. So I have to monitor them and make sure this gets done.
During all this, Cameo sends a bill collector over to collect payment for the second half of the bill. I don't pay it and later ask Cameo what is up with that because I've never heard of a company collecting half up front, and half when work BEGINS! (normally you pay upon completion right?) Anyway, Cameo tells me the is is very standard in the pool industry. Maybe it is, but I just thought I'd mention it because it leaves the client (me) no leverage in case of a job not completed which is what has happened with me.
The work crew finally finishes and leaves just as my electrician is finishing his work. The trench that was dug is not filled in. Cameo tells me that since I told the workers to leave it open for the electrician (which I was told to do by Cameo's own sales guy!) that I would have to pay extra for that.
And finally, I purchased a fancy new pool filter from Cameo as part of this installation. When I was originally getting quotes on the unit I was told by some other companies that it's a bit more complicated and specialized as far as use/cleaning goes than the old sand filter I had and to make sure I got some instruction on how to use/clean it. I was never given or offered this from Cameo, and as a matter of fact I had to ask the installers if there was some kind of manual for it just to get them to leave that with me.
Do yourself a favor, go with another company.
