I was really happy to see that the car through the front window of Tastebuds was not the end of the cafe, but just something that got in their way for a few weeks until everything got fixed up again.
Today, I was downtown attempting to make my way out of downtown. At rush hour. It wasn't fun. It was also almost dinner time and my tummy was growlin' at me. So I parked my car and hit the streets to wait out the traffic. Not too far into my wanderings, I came across Tastebuds and headed in to see what I could find to calm the increasingly loud murmurings coming from my belly. What I found was a selection of pastas, stews and other premade meals just waiting in their own little casserole dishes to be warmed up for you. And the price is right to... my 1/2 chicken enchilada was $6.95 and filling enough for me. The full order (two of them instead of one) I think was $10.95. It also came with a tossed salad on the side.
The service? It was A++. The guy working behind the counter was so super friendly! He had a "Hi, how are ya!" for me when I walked in, complimented my choice of salad dressings for my side salad, brought my food out to me when it was ready with a "dinner time!" and bade me a good night as I headed out the door. Nicely done man behind the counter, nicely done.
So if you're looking for some fast food that isn't fast food à la cheap and wholesome, find your way down to Tastebuds.
