| - I love this place! This isn't just a marketplace, it's: grocery, lunch spot, prepared foods, cellphones, banking, cafe and bakery. The cakes look amazing and affordable. The produce is perfect - free of wax and tons has specialty items. Not the stuff you would find at your local large-chain Fry's. You can pick up a 12 pack of Coke and Mexican candy.
I have to admit, I felt really out of place walking around; like I was trespassing and shouldn't be there, since I don't speak Spanish but it was okay. The cashiers spoke English but the women handing out samples and some of the counter workers did not. Everyone was very friendly. A smile and a thank you goes a long way. I could have spent hours here.
We browsed around, almost bought a lot of stuff but settled on horchata mix and red pepper seasoning blend for elotes, that would travel well in a suitcase and I can't get in Michigan.
Large pinatas hang from the ceiling, will run you about $30. The cafe seating area is communal, with large TV mounted from the ceiling, broadcasting shows in Spanish. It was surely a great place to check out.
