  • Summary: Village Barbershop Please Clean/Disinfect your razors after every haircut you do. I received a moderate to severe infection on the back of my head a few days after from a haircut i received here. Been going here for almost a year and last month received one of the most dangerous/scariest haircuts i've ever received. I knew almost immediately after receiving the haircut that the barber did not follow protocol. I ended having to go to the doctor a few days later with what turned out to be a moderate/severe case of folliculitis. The cut on day one was very irritating and itchy. I knew something was wrong but i chose to not think much of it until a few days later. By then i began to notice very prominent razor bumps all over the back of my head. Not only where they HIGHLY noticeable but they were incredibly painful. Some of the worst pain i've had in a long time. I knew it was from the haircut but thought a few days of irriation was "normal". I was so wrong...by the third day i knew it wasn't going to go away on its own. Nothing seemed to help it. Polysporin and over the counter antibiotic did nothing. It took over two weeks before i started seeing any positive change. It required daily application of noticeable prescription antibiotic creams. There was even a chance that the bumps would be permanent through a process called acne kelodias(Please do not google that). I have never been that scared in a long time. All of these issues and trouble through one haircut. ONE 30 minute haircut that wasn't even that good to begin with. One bad haircut and i was stuck this issue. The walk in clinic i went to cited an unclean razor for the cause of my infection. I was not surprised. When it was my turn for the haircut the barber never once cleaned/disinfected his razor. Thinking back i don't remember the barber ever cleaning his razor for any of my haircuts. i feel so stupid for not asking him to. Please always ask your barber to clean his razors before giving you a haircut. That is what they are SUPPOSED to do. Do not feel self conscious or think you are being difficult. This is your health on the line and the last thing you want are permanent bumps or scarring anywhere on your head. I've learned my lesson that is for sure. I do not want to get anyone fired and the infection healed 100% but i am still very angry that this happened in the first place. Village Barbershop please please please clean and disinfect your razors after EVERY haircut. Do not bypass this process. I don't care that you are busy or are behind schedule. Clean your tools. You cannot call yourself a good establishment if you are lacking in the safety department. Also after you cut hair why do you not apply alcohol to the area that recieved the lineup? this is the only place that does not do that. Its very strange.we come here to look good for school, work, dates and whatever else. I am not trying to get anyone in trouble but please the last thing we want is having to go to the doctors for something so avoidable in the first place.
