I was there with another couple last night and our experience was really bizarre. I wonder what's going on behind the scenes? We were in line to get in, and there was a group of men in front of us who were nicely dressed and behaving well. They were turned away at the door and I'm not sure what reason was given. The couple I was with was let in, and then my boyfriend and I were pulled aside by a woman standing next to the doorman and asked to fill out a form so we could get in. She said that Whiskey River was a private club, and we needed a membership card that she was going to give me right away. Fine, although I'm puzzled I fill out the form with basic information and go inside (my friends were not members and allowed to go right in).
There is a $7 cover charge to get in, however the cashier said if we gave her $1 she would let us all in!? Um, ok... thanks!
The venue is a great space and has good energy, but the dance music was all over the place. They changed songs and genres like every 30 seconds. It was really hard to dance to that!
They should really consider sticking to a specific type of music and letting it play out a bit so people can get into it.
