So July 30th was madness: I pulled into the parking lot and it was flooded with (customer) cars and (non-construction worker) people (see my original to learn I tried to shop here before it was open). The line was out the door. For a grocery store? Too insane! I swiftly whipped back around and decided to go back once opening-day hype had simmered down.
After only having read and heard the debates about Fresh & Easy on Yelp and amongst friends, I have to say - I am now an avid fan for the following reasons:
*Golly gee gosh it IS fresh. And easy!
*Pre-packaging is so convenient. Don't have to rifle through my produce - just grab and go with their carefully selected groupings of fruits or veggies.
*Selections are extremely sufficient. Not overwhelming.
*They have ALL the basics including household items, medicines...
*AHI POKE. Holy hell. Need I say more?
*Good quality inexpensive chocolate bars the size of your head
*Fun 50% specials
*Fun regular specials, like a case of bottled water for $1.99 or a pound of strawberries for 95 cents
*Delicious oatmeal cookies
*Delicious prepackaged meals like Indian Butter Chicken
*Reasonable prices
*Self-check out
Seriously, this place will save me money. And not because of the prices. Because it doesn't have a zillion things to choose from, 75% of which no person needs, and it's small enough so I can be in and out in under 20 minutes. Which is a new record for me, as I love to dawdle and often mindlessly cave to what looks good (despite it not being a need) on the shelves.
(Stopping before I wax poetic about a grocery store helping me to reach a simpler, more zen-like place in my consumeristic life.)
