| - I've been meaning to try Fogo de Chao for the longest time and I finally got the chance to. Overall, it was a decent meal but I wouldn't rate it among the best churrascaria places I've been to.
Being that this is Phoenix, and there aren't any high concentration of Brazilian/Portuguese populations nearby (at least that I'm aware of), I could see why people would love this. First off, it's all-you-can-eat and the meat is of decent quality (certainly better than any Asian buffet in the area).
Personally, my favorite were the beef ribs as it was melt-in-your-mouth tender. The other meats weren't bad, but it was a notch below what you would get at a high-end steakhouse. The meats were also of varying saltiness, with some of them being a bit too salty for my liking.
Salad bar was good but don't make the mistake of piling your plate there. After all, why would you pay $50 for raw and grilled veggies?
A bit nit-picky here, but I felt like the servers came inconsistently - at times, they would all come at once and there were moments when you'd be done with the meat and the next guy wouldn't come for at least a few minutes. Another complaint is that they don't have one of my favorite Brazilian bbq dishes - grilled pineapple with cinnamon!
It's not bad for what it is, but if you've had churrascia in ethnically Portuguese/Brazilian areas (like in Newark, NJ or Framingham, MA), you could do better for about half the price.
